Dr. J. Michael Steffen received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Iowa in 1972. He completed a residency program in 1974, earning a Master’s degree (MS) and a specialty certificate in Orthodontics from St. Louis University, recognized as one of the top orthodontic programs in the country. He has been in the private practice of orthodontics in Edmond, Oklahoma since 1974 and in Clinton, Oklahoma since 1975.

Oklahoma Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontics, Oklahoma Orthodontic Society (past president), Southwestern Society of Orthodontics, Progressive Study Club, and the Edward H. Angle Society (past president). In addition, he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and a Fellow of the American College of Dentists.

He has won three national awards for clinical excellence, has published original research papers and numerous original articles, both in local and national orthodontic journals. He lectures throughout the country on a wide variety of subjects related to his specialty. He is an Associate Clinical Professor of Orthodontics at the Oklahoma University School of Dentistry.

Dr. Steffen and his wife Kathy have three grown children and four grandchildren. They enjoy biking, golf, gardening, traveling and spending time with each other and their family.
